How to Access GPT-4o for Free

ChatGPT just got a whole lot more exciting with the recent announcement and demo of GPT-4o by OpenAI. This new language model promises even more advanced capabilities, realistic voice, the ability to create videos, and more. If you’ve been eager to try out GPT-4o but are concerned about the cost, you’re in luck! There are several ways you can access GPT-4o for free. In this blog post, we’ll walk you through four different methods.

It’s worth noting that most of these methods do have some limitations and query limits – these limits often reset daily (10 GPT-4o messages per day, for example.)

1. Using Poe

Poe.com is a versatile platform that allows you to interact with various AI bots and characters, including GPT-4o! They recently added the new model to their list of official bots. Here’s how you can get started:

  1. Visit Poe.com: Navigate to Poe.
  2. Select the GPT-4o Bot: Once logged in, choose “GPT-4o” under the official bots section.

Using Poe will allow you to send up to 10 messages per day for free. Sadly, the original GPT-4 model is still limited to subscribers only, so if you run out of messages you may have to switch to a different platform. Note that this means you can lose your previous conversations, so you may wish to copy and paste to carry some of it over!

2. Using You.com

You.com offers a unique search experience with integrated AI capabilities. To access GPT-4o on You.com:

  1. Visit You.com: Go to the You.com website and sign in to access the AI search.
  2. Select GPT-4o as the Active Model: Above the text box, click on GPT-4o to select it as the model.

You.com has a limit of 5 messages per day for free.

3. Using LMSYS Direct Chat

LMSYS Direct Chat is another place where you can check out GPT-4o’s capabilities. Here’s how:

  1. Visit LMSYS Direct Chat: Head to the LMSYS Direct Chat page.
  2. Select the Model: Above the text box, choose “gpt-4o-2024-05-13” as the model.

LMSYS is always a great way to test out new large language models. The Direct Chat section lets you interact directly with these AI models, including GPT-4o! LMSYS has a global limit of 3000 characters per hour, which can be reached fairly easily in 5-10 messages depending on your queries.

4. Using Bing Copilot

Microsoft’s Bing Copilot is expected to integrate GPT-4o soon. Currently, it offers free access to GPT-4. Here’s what you need to know:

  1. Visit Bing: Head on over to the Bing homepage. We recommend using Microsoft Edge when interacting with Bing Copilot.
  2. Access Bing Copilot: Navigate to Bing’s Copilot or Bing Chat.

For now, Bing Copilot provides access to GPT-4, making it a valuable resource until GPT-4o is officially integrated. Unlike some of the previous methods, you can also control the AI’s responses by setting the conversation style.

We hope that some of the above methods will be helpful to you and offer an easy way to try out the new GPT-4o model for free. For now, OpenAI appears to be rolling out access to the model in stages on the official ChatGPT app. For those of you who still don’t have access, these free methods should offer a decent substitute for now. We will update this page with additional methods if we come across any other easy ways to access GPT-4o.
