Did anyone else just get logged out of ChatGPT and is now unable to log back in? It appears so many people are using ChatGPT today that OpenAI’s servers can’t handle us all! If you visit the website now, it might show the following message:
Along with a neat AI generated poem/rap about ChatGPT’s downtime, you can also register your email to receive an update when the service comes back online. This is probably the only thing we can do for now, hopefully OpenAI will increase their server capacities soon as ChatGPT has truly blown up in popularity this week.
It is slightly annoying that ChatGPT tends to log you out randomly, and if this happens then good luck getting back in. I did manage to get on briefly about an hour ago, and the first thing I decided to ask it was “Why is ChatGPT at capacity right now?”, here’s the response:
Unfortunately, ChatGPT is currently at capacity and is not available for use at this time. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. It is unclear when ChatGPT will be back online, as the cause of the outage is currently being investigated. We will provide updates as soon as more information becomes available. In the meantime, we ask that users refrain from attempting to access ChatGPT, as doing so may only serve to exacerbate the issue. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to resolve the situation. Thank you for your interest in ChatGPT. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and hope to have the service back up and running as soon as possible.
Not bad, ChatGPT! Almost reads like an official statement. It’s understandable so many people are using the tool right now since it went viral across pretty much all social media platforms, with any luck we can hope will be back online by today.
